  • It has been observed that COVID-19 infection is known as a causative factor of high mortality in kidney transplant patients.
  • The risk factors known for kidney transplant recipients are old age, comorbidities, and acute kidney injury.
  • However, a regional variation in mortality rates has been observed.
  • The results of a single-center study have shown that mortality was much higher in kidney transplant patients who needed mechanical ventilation and had co-infections.
  • However, there was no effect on the type of transplant, post-transplant duration, and use of depletion induction therapy.
  • Early diagnosis and aggressive treatment of associated infections are a must in kidney transplant recipient patients.
